In addition to our means of communication, the planet Mercury rules over our psychological thought processes, both conscious and unconscious.
And when he turns retrograde, the past usually comes back, whether literally with the return of some people into our lives often to get closure, healing or a second chance, or simply in our heads while we inwardly revisit some painful episodes of our own story.
There is often an obsessional aspect in those recurring thoughts, in those strong emotions stirred up from our past with the clear aim for us to become aware of some negative thought form process or negative emotional pain that we have been clinging on for too long and that we are now asked to let go.
These periods of time are extremely favourable to our emotional healing and all the people who are triggering within us these strong emotions and painful imprints stored within our unconscious mind are acting like true messengers. Mirrors of ancient pains that we unconsciously carry yet unable to see due to the constant game of psychic protection of our own ego.
We can resist change and attempt to negotiate in order to maintain our barriers of protection that had served us by the past. Or we can agree to see what the other one is showing us, what message this past we are revisiting is carrying.
And finally accept to let go of those old beliefs, of those old pains, of those heavy burdens.
And Mercury's final retrograde journey will bring us back exactly at the same place where the past unexpectedly, if not abruptly, showed up in our life for us to check in where we eventually let go, where we surrendered, where we finally accepted things and maybe freed them.
There are often many fears or discontent in the spiritual community when Mercury turns retrograde, which happens around 3 or 4 times a year, for all the inconveniences connected to transportation and communication it might create.
All astrological signs are under the influence of these retrogrades but their themes change regarding the houses and signs Mercury will travelling in during these retrogrades. Virgo and Gemini natives are generally the most impacted ones as Mercury is their natural ruling planet.
But these retrogrades are truly divine gifts for our soul's healing. As if the entire universe was conspiring to bring us to revisit, to play once again with the help of other souls to an old outdated scenario to which we are still subconsciously clinging on to and that is energetically blocking our evolution.
During this forced period of self-reflexion, ask yourself what story from the past is being replayed now in your life ? What message is being unexpecty delivered to you at this time ? What recurrent thought or strong emotion is looping in your head, in your inner being ? To what false belief, or false self value have you been identifying with ?
Take the time to contemplate what this soul searching period of time is showing you and allow yourself to release once and for all what has been and is no longer needed to stay in your life.
